Dining Room Lighting

Dining room lighting typically features specific lighting at a table and sometimes a sideboard. The dining room may play several roles, including a formal dining area or a workspace. This type of lighting will be compatible with the later addition of specific task lighting, such as a chandelier or pendant lamps over the dining table or as accent lighting at the sideboard.

 
Lighting tip: a fixture above a dining room table should be no wider than the width of the table minus 12 inches. This is a general calculation for all table sizes and ensures that the chandelier or fixtures serve as both the focal point of the space.
